Diverse Talent Stream

To support enterprise-wide workforce diversification objectives, a Diverse Talent Stream has been created for eligible Summer Employment Opportunities program (SEO) applicants who meet the skills required for the available positions and who self-identify as belonging to any of the following four underrepresented groups: (1) Indigenous Persons, (2) Persons with Disabilities, (3) Black Persons, (4) Bilingual (French/English) Persons.

Across the Ontario Public Service (OPS), a proportion of SEO positions have been reserved to recruit students from the Diverse Talent Stream, enabling enhanced access to employment for eligible candidates who self-identify as belonging to any of the four specified groups. As part of the application process, all applicants must respond to the following self-attestation question however, participation in the Diverse Talent Stream is completely voluntary. Notice of collection

The personal information collected in this self-attestation is necessary for the proper administration of the Diverse Talent Stream however, your decision to participate and disclose personal information is completely voluntary. The Diverse Talent Stream is a recruitment initiative administered within the SEO program that has been developed to further the objectives of the OPS Anti-Racism Policy, the OPS Inclusion & Diversity Blueprint, and Ontario’s French Language Services Strategy.
 
The personal information collected within the self-attestation will be used in an identifiable format to establish talent lists for the Diverse Talent Stream; these lists will be shared with OPS hiring managers who have elected to recruit from the Diverse Talent Stream stating you identified as belonging to one of the four groups however, these managers will not have access to information regarding which specific group you self-identify with. The information collected in the secondary disclosure (that related to which underrepresented group(s) you self-identify as belonging to), is being requested to support the evaluation of the Diverse Talent Stream and will be used in a de-identified, aggregate format by designated representatives within the Corporate Talent Programs Branch, Treasury Board Secretariat to analyze the effectiveness of the program at attracting candidates from each of the four specified groups. Personal information collected in this attestation will be retained securely by the Student Employment Unit within the Treasury Board Secretariat. This information may be reported in de-identified, aggregate format to designated members of OPS leadership to report on key outcomes of the Diverse Talent Stream, including the distribution of applications received from eligible candidates as well as the number of positions successfully filled through this initiative.

A key objective of the SEO program is to build a talent continuum that will enable the OPS to attract, hire, and retain top student talent.
