Our team: The
Project Delivery Section is responsible for the delivery of many engineering services and products. Staffed by engineers, project managers, technicians, planners and support personnel, the Project Delivery Section holds the primary responsibility for the design of highway rehabilitation, highway expansion, and safety related projects to meet current and future needs of the travelling public.

About our job
Reporting to Head, Project Delivery, you will:
• Manage and direct the activities of the Highway Engineering Area within the Project Delivery Section.
• Act as the management representative for the Region and Ministry on committees, task forces and in proceedings for policy and technical matters involving highway engineering.
• Recommend and approve consultant assignments.
• Provide expert engineering advice to a technical team of staff.
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
• You must be licensed to practice with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
• You hold a valid class G Driver's License or equivalent recognized in Ontario.
• You are able and willing to conduct field reviews and travel to areas not accessible by public transportation.
Strategic Leadership Skills
• You have experience providing strategic direction, guidance and coaching to staff.
• You have experience fostering an environment of high performance, learning, growth and continuous improvement.
• You can engage team members in a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting innovation and creativity.
• You have experience developing and implementing practical solutions to unique and complex issues.
• You have demonstrated skills in managing financial budgets and human resources, including labour relations issues.
Technical Expertise
• You have advanced knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of Civil Engineering, with an emphasis on highway engineering and with knowledge of related fields.
• You have working knowledge of ministry's engineering policies and procedures, standard specifications, design and construction standards, and automated engineering systems.
• You have initiative, problem solving skills, and sound judgement to assess and solve complex engineering problems.
Project Management Skills
• You have the ability to develop objectives and assess projects and engineering/management-related policies and recommendations.
• You have the ability to establishes long range highway planning priorities.
• You can recommend and negotiates regional priorities.
Communication, Stakeholder and Relationship Management Skills:
• You have the ability to integrate opposing interests and professional opinions on complex issues.
• You have excellent relationship building skills to promote effective engagement with stakeholders.
• You have strong oral and written communication skills including presentation skills to exchange information and represent the ministry.
• You have political acuity and conflict resolution skills to effectively deal with difficult stakeholders in confrontational situations.
