About our job

Work Description:

  • Update technical documents, reports, maps and web links and assist with the coordination of wetland evaluations
  • Assist with the implement wetland evaluation in the field and desk top exercise
  • Attend information management training sessions and surveys
  • Assisting with proactive and reactive information management training material
  • Support staff in providing assistance with administrative and clerical services to ensure effective and efficient administrative operations


How do I qualify?

Mandatory

You must meet all eligibility criteria by the first day of employment (contracts begin between May and July):

  1. Student Status: You must be enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary institution (currently or for the fall semester) OR you must have graduated within the past six months (for example, if you graduated in December, you can apply for and start a summer student position up until June of the following year).
  2. Age: You must be a minimum of 15 years of age. There is no maximum age limit.
  3. Residency: You must be a resident of Ontario during the term of employment.
  4. Work Status: You must be legally entitled to work in Canada. You are also required to have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) upon being hired.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

  • Apply well developed written and communication skills to prepare a variety of documents (e.g. recording data, presentations, training material, meeting minutes).
  • Apply strong consultation and oral/listening communication skills to understand branch, region and district information management needs and share your knowledge with staff.
  • Apply interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.


Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • You apply your experience using Microsoft Office product suite, such as word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), databases; GIS mapping; email and internet to conduct research and prepare a variety of documents
  • Wetland flora and fauna identification skills
  • Aerial photograph interpretation skills


Analytical and Organizational Skills

  • You apply your planning and organizational skills to collect, organize, review and verify information/data through review of files, reports, and other means
  • You work independently or as part of a team; you plan, organize and prioritize your work to meet competing deadlines


Other Requirements

  • Able to work in the field in all kinds of weather conditions
